Food safety and environmental management policy

Food safety and environmental protection play an important role in the company's management decisions regarding its activities as a logistics operator for food products (fish, meat products, prepared foods) under controlled temperatures; storage, loading, and unloading of refrigerated food (multipurpose warehouse for fish, meat, and prepared foods); glazing of products and packaging or repackaging; and in the aspects and impacts generated by the company. Therefore, there is a Food Safety and Environmental Management Policy based on the following guidelines:

 

  • Promote the continuous improvement of activities and services related to Food Safety and Environmental Management, assessing in advance the impact of any new development on these variables.
  • Demonstrate to our current and potential customers our ability to offer products that always comply with food safety and are the result of adequate environmental management, which aims to prevent contamination associated with both the product itself and the environment around us.
  • Our food safety hazards, including physical, chemical, and microbiological hazards, will be evaluated to minimize the likelihood and severity of the consequences of a food safety loss.
  • Our environmental aspects and impacts are related to energy consumption, atmospheric emissions, waste generation, and water discharges. These will be assessed with the goal of preventing, eliminating, and minimizing them, making appropriate use of natural resources.
  • Comply at all times with the requirements of current legislation and regulations applicable to our organization, with a special focus on compliance with international, national, regional, and local environmental laws and regulations, as well as all environmental requirements to which our organization subscribes.
  • Promote communication and cooperation with employees and suppliers to ensure all established objectives are achieved and customers receive the best possible care and service. Special attention will be paid to the concerns of employees, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Adopt all measures within the company's capabilities to prevent accidents that may have repercussions for human health and the environment.
  • Document, review, update, and communicate our commitment to the environment and food safety.
  • The Policy provides the framework for establishing and reviewing Food Safety and Environmental Management objectives and goals.

Certifications

At Frioteis, we are authorized as a Type A bonded warehouse to facilitate transactions involving goods from third countries. We also hold a health registration (code 12), which allows us to store, purchase, and process frozen products from fisheries, shellfish farming, and aquaculture. We also hold a health registration (code 40) as a multipurpose warehouse, which authorizes us to store a variety of frozen food products, in addition to those from fisheries.

 

We are certified according to UNE EN ISO 22000 (food safety management systems) and UNE EN ISO 14001 (environmental management systems), applicable to the following areas: logistics operator of food products (fish, meat products, prepared foods) under controlled temperatures. Warehousing, loading, and unloading of refrigerated food services (multipurpose warehouse for fish, meat, and prepared foods).

 

We strive to maintain a training level for our team that meets legal requirements regarding health and risk prevention. Above all, we strive to adapt to new trends and apply the advantages offered in both equipment and knowledge to our operations.

Environmental communication

At FRIOTEIS, SL, concern for the environment is part of our corporate culture and one of our pillars when it comes to providing our services.

To ensure continuous improvement, we have implemented an environmental management system compliant with ISO 14001, and we have maintained its certification continuously since 2009.

One of our priorities is to foster environmental awareness among our stakeholders by motivating and engaging each and every one of us to change behavior and consumption habits, thereby promoting sustainable development, pollution prevention, and effective environmental awareness.

For this reason, we would like to inform you of the results of the identification and assessment of the environmental aspects arising from our activities, which was conducted in January 2019. We have identified the following aspects as significant:

  • Electricity consumption
  • Strapping consumption

  • Atmospheric emissions. Combustion gases from explosions. ER.

Within the framework of our management system, this year we have established the following objectives:

  • Create a food defense procedure
  • Picking, improving the computerization of merchandise entry and reducing exposure times at inadequate temperatures
  • Expansion of storage capacity
  • Consideration of environmental criteria in the project. More efficient chamber than existing ones.
